Samsung Electronics America, Inc. is bringing the highly successful #DitchTheDSLR movement to Seattle at the inaugural PIX Photo Expo and Conference hosted by DPReview and Amazon on Wednesday, October 7 starting 11 a.m. and lasting until supplies run out. Samsung will offer PIX show attendees the chance to receive the award-winning Samsung NX500 camera (valued at $799) by simply trading in their DSLRs. This program has previously seen nearly 1,000 DSLRs traded in at events in New York and Los Angeles.

“Since the first #DitchTheDSLR event, Samsung has made major strides in the digital imaging category with industry-leading innovation,” said Gary Riding, Senior Vice President, Mobile Computing, Samsung Electronics America. “We are excited to partner with the passionate DPReview photo community and Amazon at PIX, and once again give consumers the opportunity to trade in their old clunky DSLRs for a chance to enjoy Samsung’s new NX500 mirrorless camera with cutting edge imaging and wireless technology.”

Show attendees can visit the Samsung booth and trade in a fully operational Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera including battery, power supply and lens and walk away with the cutting-edge NX500, while supplies last.

Met Gala aka Fashion Oscars. After poring over hundreds of celeb pics, I have to say that it was probably one of my fave red carpets in a while…which is why I had such a tough time choosing my faves. This year, there were so many interesting dresses, I couldn’t narrow down my choices to the usual “best” and “worst”, and so, I am just going to post all of the looks that I’d found either exciting, or super boring/terrible, so that you can judge for yourself.

Perhaps the red carpet was extra exciting thanks to this year’s theme – Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. Anna Wintour arrived wearing one of my fave looks from CHANEL Haute Couture Spring 2016 collection, and knowing first-hand how important both technology and innovation are in creating a lot of the CHANEL looks, I loved her choice that much more. Other stand-outs included Solange in an origami-like David Laport frock of my dreams, Zoe Saldana sporting a gown with an exaggerated peacock-like train, Nicole Kidman in an ethereal caped creation, Kristen Stewart in yet another stunning CHANEL dress, Claire Danes in a glow-in-the-dark ball gown, and Lena Dunham, Jenna Lyons, and Jennifer Konner in custom-made J.Crew tuxes – so fresh and so cool, though perhaps not exactly adhering to the theme of the night.

I have to say that I was very disappointed to see Michelle Williams in a completely forgettable and way-too-casual dress, which was made even worse by her terrible new bangs and drab makeup – a rare misstep for this usually stylish actress. Other misses included Grimes in an ill-fitting dress and dishevelled hair, SJP in a puzzling get-up, Kerry Washington looking like she was going to a Halloween party dressed as a witch, and a whole bunch of people like Elle Fanning, Katie Holmes, Amber Heard, Emily Ratajkowski, Maria Sharapova, among others, who wore completely forgettable dresses, definitely not worthy of the Met Gala. Last, but not least, Taylor Swift, who was the co-chair of this year’s event, totally missed the mark in a cocktail dress that could have come from Banana Republic (no offence to Banana Republic, but it’s usually not Met Gala appropriate).

And there you have it, my faves and not-so-faves from this year’s Met Gala. Which looks did you like? Share your best and worst in the comments.

I usually love to watch the Golden Globes live – from the red carpet arrivals to the show itself – I find it more entertaining than almost any other award show. But this weekend, I simply forgot all about it! So this Best Dressed list was based on photos and photos alone. To tell you the truth, it was a bit challenging selecting 10 favourite looks, as a lot of celebrities and their stylists opted for either been-there-seen-that, or snoozeville looks. With that said, here are my faves.

Olivia Wilde is not my usual style favourite. Her style is uneven at best, but this time, in this oxblood Michael Kors Collection gown, she looks ravishing (if we overlook her demon-like eye makeup). The dress fits her like a glove, the colour suits her skin tone, and while I think that necklace is completely unnecessary, she still looks mighty good. Bonus points for keeping it real and rocking a pair of great custom-made ALDO heels.

Givenchy gown. I wish some of those strings/dress hairs weren’t so stringy, but beggars can’t be choosers. Other than a stray string or two, Cate The Great looks impeccable, no surprise here.
Golden-Globes-2016-Kate-Bosworth-Dolce-and-Gabbana

I’m not sure why Kate Bosworth was at the Globes tonight, but the fact is, the woman’s got style. This sequinned Dolce & Gabbana gown looks great on her, the print is interesting, and I love that she chose minimal accessories, letting the dress shine.

Golden-Globes-2016-Alicia-Vikander-Louis-Vuitton

Alicia Vikander is quickly becoming my new favourite. Even the fact that she’s dating my boyfriend Michael Fassbender can’t stop me from liking her. She’s marvellous in The Danish Girl, and has been killing it at every event she attends. I am not madly in love with this Louis Vuitton gown, but she makes it work. I love the stripes, the criss-cross back, and the ruffles around the neckline; it’s both chic and simple, and in my opinion, it’s certainly one of the best looks of the night.
More after the jump!

Golden-Globes-2016-Kate-Hudson

Don’t hate me for liking this look, but I think Kate Hudson is totally pulling this Michael Kors Collection two-piece off. I am usually not a huge fan of tube-tops on the red carpet, but somehow the combination of the matching choker, tousled locks, and that rocking bod is making me sit up and pay attention.

Golden-Globes-2016-Lady-Gaga-Versace

Did you watch Jenna Dewan on Lip Sync Battle? SHE WAS AMAZING!!! Perhaps I’m still lovestruck with her incredible performance, but I am really liking this look on her. It’s a bit prommy, but I think she looks beautiful nonetheless.

Golden-Globes-2016-Kirsten-Dunst-Valentino

Another black velvet dress, but this time it’s Kirsten Dunst in Valentino. It’s not my favourite ever, but she looks good in it, the neckline is interesting, it’s not putting me to sleep, and I like Kirsten Dunst.

Golden-Globes-2016-Jennifer-Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence looks good, but once again, it’s not her best ever. The only reason I am including this look is because of the hair, makeup, and necklace. That necklace elevates her dress, and her face looks impeccable. Good enough?

Just look at those inflatables behind me, happy and unaware of the night ahead of them. By the end of Power Ball XVIII: Pleasure Principle, most of those animals would be deflated and Inflatable Culture installation taken apart, creating numerous colourful photo-ops for partygoers throughout The Power Plant.

Power Ball is one of my favourite parties of the year, and this year’s event did not disappoint. Apart from the inflatables, other art installations included Ungentrified by Lorna Mills – a collage of gif-like raunchy video clips, Opium Den by Karen Tam – “response to stereotypical portrayals of Chinese in the West”, complete with a gong and lanterns, Anaglyph by Jordan Sodenberg Mills – mirrors that created trippy 3D reflections, perfect for surreal selfies.

After checking out the installations, I devoured some delicious bites by Parts & Labour, and tried a non-alcoholic jello shot, which luckily wasn’t one of the chicken broth flavoured ones. It seemed that everyone in town was at the party, and I spent the rest of the night socializing and trying not to trip on my Erdem gown. It was definitely a night to remember, and I am already dying to find out what the theme for next year’s Power Ball will be.

You ever need proof that celebrities—even the super-famous ones—aren’t all that different from us, remember the way Calvin Harris is handling his breakup right now just like any regular 32-year-old who was dumped by his younger, arguably more successful girlfriend for another dude.

First came the purge, unfollowing Tay—and blocking her fan pages—on social media. Next came a passive-aggressive tweet after news broke that Taylor had a new boyfriend (he wrote: “Oh boy it’s about to go down.”) Inevitably, he immediately regretted and swiftly deleted said tweet. Now, finally, Harris seems to be reaching some sort of acceptance, emerging from the ruins of his breakup to post a sexy selfie on Snapchat, hit the gym, and refollow his ex on social media.

Harris spent the day yesterday documenting his workout, posting a series of (shirtless) Snapchats. “Leg day brings out the best in a man,” the Scottish musician says in one clip. “Too many people neglect leg day.”

Clearly in a good mood from his workout, Harris also appears to have refollowed both Swift and her brother on Instagram yesterday. Good for you, CH, keep working on that revenge body, and you’ll mend that broken heart in no time.

Football is the world’s favorite game, with the exception of some countries. To some, it’s a lifestyle, a culture, even a religion. If you’ve been keeping tabs with this month’s UEFA EURO 2016, these documented Lomo photographs of football culture will surely be your weekend’s treat.
